Windows Remote Desktop Connection
Windows Remote Desktop Connection tool comes bundled with the Windows installation pack. It is best enough to use to remotely access any computer if you are in Windows system. So if you are still finding for a simple remote desktop tool and did not yet go through the Remote Desktop Connection from the Accessories folder under Windows start menu programs, you can give it a try. Teamviewer is no doubt a very popular application for the newbies to provide remote desktop access. It is easy to install and simple to recognize the interface. One of the end user can start a session by generating the unique Teamviewer id and password and supplying those to the partner to the other end. After getting connected, the active user can access the desktop of the remote computer, provide any type of support, transfer files etc.

This application can create browser based sessions, supported in the popular web browser like Firefox, Chrome, IE etc. As HTML 5 has introduced some advanced features, it takes that advantage and create a session for the partner computer and show the screens in the active users’ browser.
The only downside of this application is that it is not as easy to setup as the aforementioned Remote Desktop Connection tools. The user should have some minimum knowledge on IP address, Port etc.

Though it is Windows application, you can access the target computer from any operating system using the web browsers. This open source application serves some extra flavor with its features including file transfer support, text chat and support for optional plug-ins.
